How do I place a hold on a book if it is currently checked out?

Answer

The University Library does not currently offer holds on items currently checked out, or on items that are listed as available and on the shelf in the bookstacks or in Course Reserves. You can see when the item is due back by clicking on the title for the book in OneSearch to view the full results page. Scroll down below the title information to see the due date on this page.

You can place requests for books to be paged from our Storage area through OneSearch, or by stopping at one of our service desks within the library with your student ID and information about the book including its call number.  The library will then search for the book and notify you when it is available. You can also request search service for items you can't find on the shelf but which are listed as available in OneSearch.

If you have questions about an item that is currently checked out, you can contact Library User Services at circulation@csudh.edu or call (310) 243-3712 to speak with a User Services team member for more information.
